John Marion Burniel, 78, of Harleysville, formerly of Philadelphia (Roxborough), passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2024. John was born May 30, 1946, in Frondenberg, Germany, the son of the late Kazimierz "Charles" and Maria (Gliwa) Burniel.
John attended St. Josaphat's Grade School and Dobbins Technical High School where he played soccer for his high school team. John was a burner and retired from Philadelphia Gear Company. He enjoyed watching soccer, working on his 1975 Chevy Malibu, attending car shows, listening to music, and spending time with his family. He was a member of St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church in Hatfield (previously a member of St. Josaphat's Catholic Church in Manayunk) and a member of Roxborough Ridge Runners.
John is survived by his sister Wanda Hartman (Timothy); his nieces and nephew, Jennifer Haigh (Adam), Michele DiCicco (Robert), Timothy Hartman, Jr. (Elizabeth); his grand nieces and nephews, Kevin, Catherine, Philip, Madison, Timmy, and Levi.
The viewing will be held at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, 1601 Derstine Road, Hatfield, PA 19440 on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at 9:30 – 10:15 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM with Father Chung as the celebrant. The interment will be private.
