Joanne C. (Alderfer) Freeman, 87, a lifetime resident of Harleysville, passed away Friday, September 27, 2024, at the Souderton Mennonite Home in Souderton. She was the wife of the late Walter D. Freeman.

Born September 18, 1937, in Harleysville, she was a daughter of the late Irvin Y. Alderfer and Ethel P. (Cassel) Alderfer. Mrs. Freeman was a graduate of Souderton High School Class of 1955.

Upon graduation, she began employment with Harleysville Insurance Company. Joanne retired as Executive Secretary for Nicholas Boris, a steel manufacturer. She and Walter did many things together, including restoring antique cars. They enjoyed traveling and camping in their motor home. Joanne and Walter proudly shared their home with family and friends over the years. Joanne enjoyed playing cards and spending time with family and friends and was known to be a true people person in all aspects of life.

She is survived by her brother Stanley C. Alderfer and his wife, Barbara, of Frederick, PA, as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her siblings, Victor R. Alderfer, Gloria R. Benner, Wesley C. Alderfer, Bernice C. Hoffman, Emily C. Koch, Gerald C. Alderfer, and her companion, Ronald Buckley.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her memorial service at 11 AM on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at the Souderton Mennonite Home, 207 West Summit St., Souderton, PA 18964. The family will receive friends following the service. The interment will be private for the family at Hatfield Cemetery.
