He was preceded in death by his parents Charles L. and Elizabeth Frederick Haberle; four brothers, Glenn, Richard, Frederick, and Bruce; and two sisters, Stella Haberle Feenstra and an infant sister Bernice; and a great granddaughter, Adrianna Moran-Gaudiello.

Jeryl was born on the Haberle farm in Hilltown Township near Souderton where Indian Valley Camping Center is located today.  He enjoyed his youth on the farm and often talked about his experiences on the family farm.   He attended Hilltown High School, Blooming Glen and was an excellent basketball player and baseball pitcher in high school.

In 1949, playing briefly for the Perkasie American Legion team, he pitched all 15 innings, striking out 17 batters to win the championship game against Norristown 3-2.  Later in 1949, he was signed by the St. Louis Browns (later became the Baltimore Orioles) to pitch, but was soon cut.

In 1954, He was drafted into the US Army, his draft papers listed him as a farm hand.  He was assigned to post war Korea.  After his military service was complete, he worked for ten years at the Gauge in Sellersville, but for most of his adult years, he was an active PGA Member Golf Instructor until 2019.  He played his first round of golf in 1955 and shot a 105, he never broke 100 again.

In 2003, he was inducted in to the Pennridge-Quakertown Sports Hall of Fame for his accomplishments on the baseball field and golf course. His best ever golf score was a 66 at Twin Lakes in the 1960's.  He had 5 Hole in ones during his golfing career.

His last residence was  Souderton Mennonite Homes, Souderton, Pa.

He accepted the Lord as his Savior as a middle-aged adult and was a member at the Lighthouse Baptist Church in Buckingham, Pa.

It was a treat to be with him watching a baseball game or golf match on TV because he knew so much about the game, and could tell you what was going to happen and why before it did.

It was a blessing to be with him anytime in prayer, especially on Sunday mornings hearing the gospel on TV as he loved the Lord so much.

A private graveside service will be held at Limerick Garden of Memories.  For those desiring, Memorial Contributions may  be made to Lighthouse Baptist Church, PO Box 574, 2622 Durham Road, Buckingham, PA  18912.
