James A. Swartley, 85, of Lansdale, died on Wednesday, January 3, 2024.
Born in Sellersville, he was the son of the late Allen and Miriam Swartley.
Jim was a graduate of Souderton Area High School, class of 1956. After graduating high school he served in the United States Army.
Jim worked as a mail carrier for the US Post Office in Harleysville for 25 years. He then worked at North Penn Hospital for over 20 years in housekeeping.
He was a lifelong member of Christ Reformed Church at Indian Creek. Jim was a proud friend of Bill Wilson for 45 years. He was an avid reader and history buff. Jim was dedicated to donating blood to the American Red Cross, donating over 100 pints of blood. He was known for his kind soul and his love for his family.
He is survived by a brother Thomas Swartley (Ginny), a sister Loretta Weitzel, and his nieces and nephews Megan (Sean), Matthew (Nicole), Michelle (Andy) and Todd (Kristi).
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law Carl Weitzel.
A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, January 11, at Christ Reformed Church at Indian Creek, 171 Church Road, Telford, 18969, where the family will receive friends from 10-10:45.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christ Reformed Church at Indian Creek at the above address.
