James Joseph Lare age 84, of Telford, passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2023. He was the beloved husband of Theresa (Traficante) Lare, with whom he shared over 55 years of marriage.
Born July 30, 1939, in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Bernard and Louise (Fox) Lare.
James, known to most as "Jim," spent his entire life in the Philadelphia area, moving to Telford in 2006. Jim went to North Catholic High School, and before graduation, enlisted in the U.S. Army. He entered the insurance industry in his late-twenties and earned a bachelor's degree from St. Joseph's University, followed by a law degree from Delaware Law School. Jim retired as a Director of Public Affairs in Pennsylvania for State Farm Insurance Company after thirty-seven years with the company. Jim's most valued time was spent with his family: his wife, Theresa of fifty-five years, and his sons, Jim and Greg, and their families. Numerous summers were spent in Sea Isle City with his family, having as much fun at the beach as his young grandchildren did. Jim also enjoyed the arts, with music interests ranging from classical to jazz to Irish folk. Finally, Jim found peace, satisfaction, and joy by writing poetry and short stories to express his thoughts, experiences, and reflections on life.
In addition to his wife, Theresa, he is survived by his sons James Geoffrey Lare and his wife Alena and Gregory Brian Lare and his wife Maureen; grandchildren Olivia Grace, Benjamin Gustav, Caroline Rose, Lannen Theresa, Sean Patrick, Margaret Rose; siblings Bernadette Black and Charles Lare. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his siblings Bernard Lare, Frances Palumbo, John Lare, Joan Larkin and William Lare.
A visitation for James will take place on Monday, October 16, 2023, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the Williams-Bergey-Koffel Funeral Home Inc., 667 Harleysville Pike, Telford, and again from 10:00 – 10:45 AM on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, 1601 Derstine Road, Hatfield, where a Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM.
