Jacob Furbacher, 82, of Franconia, passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 23, 2026.  He was the devoted husband of Katherine (Heck) Furbacher since 1968.

Jacob was born on September 28, 1943, in Perjamosch, Romania.  He was the son of the late Jakob and Elisabeth (Schweitzer) Furbacher. Jacob was of German heritage and lived in Mochenwangen, Germany until 1956, when he and his family immigrated to the United States.

Jacob retired in 2008 from the Philadelphia Inquirer, where he worked for 28 years as a machinist.  He previously worked for Warrington Motors, Bryn Mawr, as a Volkswagen mechanic and Schmidt's Brewery, Philadelphia, as a mechanic.

An avid outdoorsman, Jacob loved hunting and fishing. In his spare time, he enjoyed sitting outside in nature, mowing his lawn, attending his grandchildren's athletic games, and cooking. Spending time with his family was Jacob's greatest joy in life. He will be fondly remembered for his humor, love of history, his mechanical abilities, and his helpful nature.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Jacob Furbacher of Pennsburg, PA; Albert Furbacher and his wife, Lisa, (Ziegler) of Pennsburg, PA; Karina Huckel and her husband, Mark, of Harleysville, PA; Kristal Schick and her husband, Matthew, of Upper Black Eddy, PA; and Adria Furbacher of Jamison, PA. His grandchildren Luke, Tyler, Leah, Jacob, Casey, Brady, Allison, and Samantha will miss him immensely, as will his sisters: Katharina Scharf and Waltraud Furbacher. He will also be remembered by many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Jacob was preceded in death by his brother, Johann Furbacher, and his sister, Anneliese Pollins.

In accordance with Jacob's wishes, no service will be held. The family encourages friends and loved ones to honor Jacob's memory in their own personal way.
