William Herbert Rittenhouse, 75, a resident of Souderton, PA for the last 45 years, passed away at home on Sunday morning, January 2, 2022. He and his wife, Kathleen (Eshelman) Rittenhouse, celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary on October 9th. He was sincerely devoted, kind and loving. If you knew him, you loved him!

Born June 23, 1946, in Sellersville, PA, he was a son of the late Herbert and Florence (Hunsberger) Rittenhouse. He attended Upper Perkiomen High School before working on the family farm for a period of time. Herb later worked in excavation for Ernest Reinford and for 14 years for North Penn Water Authority where he served as a crew leader. He painted for his brother, Thomas Rittenhouse, before starting and running his own painting business, W. H. Rittenhouse Painting, for over 35 years. He was the teacher, coach and mentor to all three of his children, all of whom continue his trade.

Herb was an active life-long member of Souderton Brethren in Christ Church where he served with Boys' Brigade, taught Sunday school, and led home Bible studies. He had a giving heart and was always looking to give help to those in need and guidance to those needing direction.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Rodney J. Rittenhouse and his partner, Suzanne McMahon, of Coatesville, PA, and his children, Breann and Ashley; and two daughters, Christine J. Zucal of Souderton, PA, and her children, Richard, Charity, Lucretia, Jonathan and Timothy, and Patricia J. DeCasere and her fiancé, Jeremy Dusza, and their children, Kaleigh, Julian, Elliot, Katelyn, Carter and Reagan; and nine great grandchildren, Carl, Logan, Lila, Rori, Temperance, Aymeric, Jonathan, Layla and Mya.

Also surviving are three brothers, Gerald Rittenhouse and his wife, Elaine, of Harleysville, PA, Thomas Rittenhouse and his wife, Linda, of Sellersville, PA, and Timothy Rittenhouse and his wife, Wanda, of Pennsburg, PA; and two sisters, Jane Kratz and her husband, Harold, of Sarasota, FL, and Gail Horning and her husband, Kurt, of Sarasota, FL.

Herb was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Joy Alcott, and by an infant brother, John David Rittenhouse.
