Obituary

Heather Rose Freed, age 50, of Quakertown, PA, passed away peacefully on December 30th , surrounded by those who loved her. We rejoice in the knowledge that she is with her Heavenly Father and reunited with her parents.

Born on January 31, 1975 in Lansdale, PA, Heather was a cherished daughter of the late Ralph D. and Wilma (Alderfer) Freed, sister, aunt, and friend whose life was marked by her feisty and joyful nature.

Heather had a deep love for all kinds of music, especially country, and she loved attending concerts by The Oak Ridge Boys and Kenny Chesney. She enjoyed eating out with her family and friends; McDonald's chicken nuggets were her favorite go-to meal. Making Rice Krispie treats and cookies with her sister was a favorite tradition. Throughout the years, summer camps and Ocean City, NJ family vacations were yearly highlights. When she was younger, she enjoyed swimming and horseback riding.

She graduated from Souderton Area High School and participated in Indian Creek Foundation's Day program since high school. She also enjoyed taking car rides and relaxing at home with her housemates.

She was known for her mischievous nature, infectious giggle, and ability to express her thankfulness in all situations. Her physical quickness and determination in getting what she wanted surprised and delighted her family and friends. This usually involved cookies and other treats.

She was deeply loved by many and is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Kara and Ken Groschopp of Worcester, PA, niece, Fiona and nephews, Will and Nolan Groschopp, stepmother, Patrice Freed of Souderton, PA and step-siblings, Rebekah Priest and Jed Slagel and their families. She leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her infant sister, Megan, grandparents: Henry and Ida (Delp) Freed and Willis and Elizabeth (Cassel) Alderfer.

Heather was beloved by those who knew her. She enriched the lives of the people she met, leaving a legacy of gratitude, laughter, and a wealth of stories that we will be recounting for years to come.

Her family is thankful for the people and organizations that were instrumental in her life,  including Indian Creek Church of the Brethren, Indian Creek Foundation, Peaceful Living and Zion Mennonite Church.

A celebration of Heather's life will be held on Saturday, January 24th at 10:00 am at Zion Mennonite Church, 149 E Cherry Lane, Souderton, PA 18964. All who knew and loved her are welcome to attend.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Heather's name may be made to Indian Creek Foundation, 420 Cowpath Rd, Souderton, PA 18964.

Heather's life was a gift — one that inspired people to support, protect, and advocate for those who cannot do it for themselves.  We are all better for having known and loved her. "For we are God's masterpiece, created anew in Christ Jesus for good works,". Ephesians 2:10.
