Harold L. Landis, 96, a life-long resident of Mainland, PA, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, August 22, 2023, at Peter Becker Community in Harleysville, PA. He was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine J. (Burleigh) Landis, on July 29, 2017.

Born January 7, 1927, in Mainland, PA, he was a son of the late Titus Metz Landis and Amanda (Shoemaker) Landis. He worked in meat packing for all of his working life. He began going to market in the Olney section of Philadelphia, PA with his cousin, Paul, under the name P & H Landis Market. He then helped run the family business, T. M. Landis Beef Packers of Mainland, PA, along with his brother, Arden Landis, and cousins, Dayton and Sam Landis. Mr. Landis later worked with Moyer Packing (MOPAC), Godshall Quality Meats, Inc., and Rice's Quality Meats. He enjoyed working at the Chestnut Hill Market for many years after retirement, up until the age of 93. He always enjoyed working and interacting with his customers.

Harold grew up at Towamencin Mennonite Church and then attended Zion Mennonite Church. In 1964, he joined Calvary Church of Souderton, PA, where he volunteered and served in many capacities including teaching children's Sunday school, ushering and parking. Outside of church, he helped others by driving people to doctor's appointments and by volunteering at Peter Becker Community.

Harold had a life-long passion for the game of baseball. He played ball as a youth with family and friends on many teams and in many leagues including East Penn, Franconia Cowboys, Harleysville Hornets, and Perkiomen Twilight League. He also was a dedicated fan of the Boston Red Sox and Philadelphia Phillies. Another favorite pastime included bowling each week at Earl Bowl Lanes with friends up until he was 95 years old. He also enjoyed hunting in Susquehanna County, PA, taking fishing trips to Canada, and spending time at the family cabin at Lake Wallenpaupak fishing and boating.

Above all, Mr. Landis loved his Lord and Savior and his family. He praised the Lord for everything he had, especially the ability to spend time with his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. Christmas, Easter and family dinners were always special to him as everyone gathered at his home.
