Obituary

Geraldine K. (Alderfer) Keller, who just celebrated her 95 th birthday, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, October 29, 2022, at Peter Becker Community. She was the beloved wife of the late LaVerne F. Keller, who passed away in 2016. The couple shared over 70 years of marriage.

Born September 18, 1927, in Harleysville, she was a daughter of the late Lewis and Erma (Keller) Alderfer. Geraldine was a 1944 graduate of Souderton High School.

Geraldine loved her family and friends and was always there, a quiet strength for all.  Her family was her #1 priority and she was always willing to be a Home Room mom or help in her children's activities   As a full-time homemaker, her home was always welcoming, especially to her grandchildren. Many happy memories at MomMom's house, especially sleepovers!  Memories include quilting parties, freezing corn & applesauce, making fastnacht donuts, Easter egg dyeing and hunts, & mending our clothing tares.

Gerry had a "funny cake ministry!"   She enjoyed baking pies and then would deliver them to neighbors, friends & family to celebrate birthdays, get well wishes, or just visit to show her care and love.  Everyone loved receiving Gerry's funny cakes!

Born in Harleysville, the oldest of 5 girls, Gerry always had many Harleysville connections and kept those special friends even as they later lived at Peter Becker Community together!

Always good with numbers, she volunteered as a cashier at Care & Share thrift shops & Grand View Hospital Gift shop for many years and then later at Peter Becker thrift shop,

A lifetime member of Zion Mennonite Church, Gerry & Kelly were on the visitation team and could be counted on to be at almost every music program & event.

Gerry loved the Phillies and could be seen wearing her pink Phillies shirt & cap.  She also enjoyed watching her sons' baseball & soccer games and attended many of her grandchildren's & even some great-grandchildren's sports events.

She is survived by her four children, Brenda K. Leister and her husband, Thomas, of Sellersville, Darlene K. Humphrey and her husband, Scott, of Telford, L. Scott Keller of Telford, and Melanie Sue Derstine and her husband, Christian, of West Rockhill Township; nine grandchildren, Kelli S. Rice, Julie C. Bell, Nathan T. Leister, Michael T.
