George Edward Keck, age 88, passed away on Monday, September 18, 2023. He was the beloved husband of Betty Jean (Freshcorn) Keck, with whom he shared over 71 years of marriage.

Born July 15, 1935, in New Sewickley Township, he was a son of the late Charles Clarence and Mildred Elizabeth (Wahl) Keck.

George received his bachelor's degree from Thiel College and later earned his Masters of Divinity from the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia. He was ordained in 1964, and served as pastor of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Greenville, PA. Later he was involved in various aspects of the Lutheran Church, including leadership, education, and administration. He concluded his career as Director of Admissions at The
Philadelphia Seminary. George also enjoyed writing, woodworking, and gardening. He cherished his family and loved the times they spent together.

In addition to his wife, Betty, he is survived by his children, Deborah Balaban (Ed), Cindy Bach (Wayne), and Karin DeRuosi (Frank); grandchildren, Christopher Bach (Natalie Elfner), Nathan Bach (Kelly), Matthew Balaban, Eric Balaban (Sigrunn Sky), Joshua DeRuosi (Jax Miller), and Emma DeRuosi; great grandchildren, Kailani Bach, Keanu Bach, and baby boy Balaban who will be joining the family in December. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Ruth Schweinsberg; and brother, Howard Keck.

A funeral service for George will take place at 1:00 PM on Saturday, September 23, 2023, at Advent Lutheran Church, 470 Landis Road, Harleysville, PA 19438, where the family will greet guests from 11:00 AM – 12:45 PM. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in George's name may be made to either Advent Lutheran Church at the address above or Peter Becker Community Benevolent Fund, 800 Maple Avenue, Harleysville, PA 19438.
