Francis R. "Frank" Byrnes, 85, a former long-time resident of the Lawndale
section of Philadelphia, PA, passed away surrounded by his family at home in
Souderton PA, on Sunday night, December 25 th , 2022. He and his wife, Anna M.
(Chrostowski) Byrnes, celebrated their 64 th wedding anniversary on September 27 th
of this year.

Born April 12, 1937, in Philadelphia, PA, he was a son of the late Francis and Rita
(McClean) Byrnes. He was a 1955 graduate of Roman Catholic High School.

Frank was a fireman with the Philadelphia Fire Department for 23 years, serving
mostly with Engine 59. He retired from the department in 1983 as a Captain. He
co-founded WCS Limited in Philadelphia in 1976, and also co-founded and
operated Waterware Corp. until he retired again in 2000. Frank invented and
produced the Center Compression Lock, a fire hydrant lock still used today. He
was very talented at working with his hands and could fix and maintain anything
from musical instruments to ski bindings. His talents and interests were varied and
many, but he considered gardening his passion.

In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by five children, Michael Byrnes
and his wife, Mary, of Cherry Hill, NJ, Dennis Byrnes and his wife, Kay, of
Chalfont, PA, Kevin Byrnes and his partner, Mary Ann, of Worcester, PA, Susan
Byrnes of Telford, PA, and Stephen Byrnes and his wife, Laura, of Feasterville,
PA. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and a
brother, Robert Byrnes and his wife, Dolores, of Moorestown, NJ.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Rita Laychock.

Family will receive friends from 7-9 pm on Thursday evening, January 5, 2023, at
Williams-Bergey-Koffel Funeral Home, Inc., 667 Harleysville Pike, Telford, PA,
and again from 9:30 – 10:30 am on Friday, January 6, at St. Maria Goretti Catholic
Church, 1601 Derstine Road, Hatfield, PA. The funeral Mass will then begin at
10:30 am on Friday at the church. All are welcome to attend. Interment will be
