Evelyn Elizabeth Budd, age 104 and a resident of Peter Becker Community, Harleysville, passed away on Sunday, December 18, 2022. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Budd with whom she shared over 65 years of marriage.
Born January 24, 1918, in Beach Lake, PA, she was the daughter of the late Grover and Lucy (Downing) Branning.
Evelyn was a graduate of Mansfield University and earned her B.S. degree from East Stroudsburg University. She started her teaching career in a one room schoolhouse in Wayne County and also taught in Perkiomen Valley School District. She was a member of Eden Fellowship Church for over 70 years, a member of Keystone Grange, and a member of Harleysville Senior Center where she held several positions. She was also a member of Bum Bah Bucketeers Band, an entertainment group, whose members traveled to Europe several times as Goodwill Ambassadors. Joe and Evelyn enjoyed traveling to all 50 states, several countries in Europe, and went on several cruises. She also enjoyed reading, crewel work, gardening, and volunteer work.
Evelyn is survived by her daughters, Susan Nesspor and her husband Thomas, and Doris Johnson and her husband John; grandchildren, Thomas Nesspor and his wife Rochelle, Lisa Fitzmier and her husband Stephen, Michelle Walker and her husband Randy, and Julie Lurwick and her fiancée Drew Fox; great grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Ryan, Ella, Caleb, Joshua, Micah, Addison, Sam, Liam, Henry, Violet, and Hazel; and sister, Alice Druschen. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Evelyn loved her family and loved spending time with them especially the great grandchildren who called her Great MomMom. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Judy, who passed at age 11; her great grandson, Thomas Anthony Nesspor; her sister, Marcena Tompkins; and her brother, Allen Branning.
