Eva (Souder) Moyer, age 98, a resident of Souderton Mennonite Homes died Sat., Nov. 6, 2021. For 66 years, she was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Noble Moyer.
Born April 8, 1923, in Sellersville, Pennsylvania to the late Harvey and Bessie (Freed) Souder.
Eva was a graduate of Sellersville-Perkasie High School, Class of 1941. After graduation, she worked at Harleysville Insurance for five years.
Eva married Joseph N. Moyer on October 1, 1944, in Sellersville, Pennsylvania. In 1946 they moved to Blooming Glen and lived there until moving to Souderton Mennonite Homes in 1999. Eva and Joe had a family business of raising poultry, butchering and managing a stall at Reading Terminal Market for 45 years.
She was a member of Rockhill Mennonite Church until transferring her membership to Blooming Glen Mennonite Church in 1946. Eva was active in her church teaching Sunday School, Summer Bible School, participating in the Sewing Circle, and serving as a librarian. She was also an active member of the Grand View Hospital Auxiliary.
She enjoyed crocheting, reading, traveling, and entertaining friends and family. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family, welcoming and loving each new family member who joined by marriage or birth. Known by her family as Nana, she prayed for each one by name each day.
Eva is survived by a daughter, Glenda Bergey and her husband Will of Hatfield, PA, and a son, Neal Moyer and his wife, Sherry of Blooming Glen, PA. Six grandchildren, Christopher Bergey and his wife, Wendy, of San Jose, CA; Bradley Bergey and his wife, Tonya Swartzendruber, of Nyack, NY; Jonathan Bergey and his wife, Kimberly, of Telford, PA; Travis Moyer and his wife, Becky of Perkasie, PA; Jason Moyer and his wife, Cassie, of Berlin, Pa; Katie Gehman and her husband, Wendell, of Coopersburg, PA. Sixteen great-grandchildren Abigail, Alexander, Aiden, Wyatt, Kate, Luella, Autumn, Landon, Sadelle, Audra, Ginger, Levi, Naomi, Cassidy, Asher, and Aubrey. She is also survived by a loving and attentive sister, Marie Shisler, Souderton, PA; nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Paul F. Souder, and her sister Ruth F. Souder.
A celebration of Life Service will be held at Blooming Glen Mennonite Church on Saturday, November 13, 2021, at 1 p.m. A private family burial took place. The family is requesting that masks be worn in the church and while meeting friends after the service in the Welcome Center.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Eva's name to Living Branches Foundation Agape Fund, 275 Dock Drive, Lansdale, PA 19446.
