Obituary

Ethel (Peters) Castor, 90, of Lansdale, completed her Earthly journey on Thursday, March 9, peacefully and surrounded by her family, and is now in the presence of her Lord. She was the beloved wife of Edwin Castor, with whom she shared 71 years of marriage.

Born in Philadelphia, Ethel was a daughter of the late John and Mary Peters, immigrants from Hungary.  She was preceded in death by sisters, Mary Taylor, Helen Butterworth, and Nancy Nazaruk, and brother John Peters.

Ethel graduated from Olney High School and was employed at the P.S.F.S. Bank of Philadelphia.  After her children were born, she stayed home to raise them and counted those years as some of her happiest and most fulfilling.  When her last child went to school, Ethel accepted a job with the Central Bucks School District as an aide in Special Education, retiring after eighteen years.

Ethel was a member of First Baptist Church in Doylestown for many years and was involved in various ministries. After moving from Bucks to Montgomery County in 2004, she and Ed became members of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Harleysville.

Ethel loved gardening, baking, creating a beautiful home, and showing hospitality to many.  In the mid 1990's, Ethel and her husband had the opportunity to live in Turkey on a work assignment where they enjoyed many rich experiences and engaged in the life of the local Christian church. This was a highlight of their life.

In addition to her husband, Ethel is survived by her children Jeffrey Castor (Cindy), Cathy Nagy (James), Fr. Timothy Castor, and Richard Castor (Catherine).  She is also survived by eight grandchildren, to whom she was the most devoted "Grammy": Abigael, Meredith, Julia, Olivia, Joel, Andrew, Emily, and Sara. She was preceded in death by her firstborn infant, Linda Ellen.

A memorial service for Ethel will be held on Thursday, March 16, at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 310 Covenant Lane, Harleysville, 19438, where the family will receive friends at 10:30 am, with a service to follow at 11:00.  For those unable to attend the service it can be view via livestream by clicking HERE.

Interment will be private in Lawnview Cemetery, Rockledge.
