Esther Ruth, 87, of Harleysville, died on Monday, October 9, 2023. She was the wife of the late Donald Ruth.
Born in Morwood, she was the daughter of the late Wilson and Bertha (Moyer) Kratz.
She was a member of Living Faith Fellowship Church, where she was very involved with the music ministry.
Esther always thought of others first and was always very hospitable and generous. She loved having people in her home, opening it up to various groups of people from other cultures through the years: Saudi Arabia, Central America, Brazil, Czech Republic, and many people from Bolivia. She loved giving and gave tens of thousands of dollars to various mission organizations and even had a water well drilled in India in her name so people could have clean water. Esther helped several ex-prisoners find help, homes, and loving support through her work with Liberty Ministries.
Esther is survived by her children, Roger Piper-Ruth (Pam) of Boise, ID, Gina Canaviri (Ponciano) of Harleysville and Kraig Ruth (Lisa) of Middletown, RI, seven grandchildren, Hannah Canaviri (Lewis Longard) of Santa Cruz, Bolivia, Danny Canaviri (Samantha Ferrier) of Midland, TX, Naomi Lee (Brandon) of Gilbertsville, Josiah Canaviri of Seattle, WA, Lauresta Welty (Justin), Conrad Piper-Ruth (Codi Fitzgerald) and Kenton Piper-Ruth all of Boise, ID, four great-grandchildren, Anise, Chayton, Nora and Charlotte, three sisters, Joanne Nice (Floyd) of Morwood, Lyn Kratz (Pam French) of Philadelphia, and Karen Potts (Doug) of Bechtelsville and three sisters-in-law Faye Bolton of Souderton, Phyllis Ruth of Holmes Beach, FL and Anne Kratz of Hampton, NH.
In addition to her husband and parents, Esther was preceded in death by a brother Wilson Kratz.
A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, October 20, at Living Faith Fellowship Church, 582 Moyer Rd, Souderton,18964, where a viewing will take place from 9:30-10:45 AM. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
