Esther R. Barndt, age 95, was united with the Lord on Saturday morning, April 6, while living at Living Branches, Souderton, where she lived for nearly 25 years. She was the wife of Stanley L. Barndt, who died in 1996. They were married 49 years.
Born in Graterford, Montgomery County, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Eunice (Moyer) Rawn. Esther graduated from the former Hatfield High School and attended business school for one year. She and Stanley owned and operated their Dietz Mill Road farm with their three children.
In addition to farming, Esther and her late husband found time for employment with Penn Valley Grace Brethren Church, Telford, as custodians. They were a team. Esther enjoyed reading, quilting and embroidering. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who worked hard. The Barndts were early members of Penn Valley Grace Brethren Church, now Penn Valley Church, Telford.
Esther Is survived by three children: Esther M. Goropoulos of Lancaster, PA , Susan M. Mann wife of Donald, of Souderton, PA, and Ruth I. Schwartz wife of Kenneth, of Opelika, Alabama; one brother, Raymond Rawn husband of Evelyn, Sellersville; seven grandchildren: Ann Hughes (Jimmy), Philip Goropoulos (Amy), Bradley Mann (Amanda), Desmond Mann (Michelle), Justine Mann, Peter Schwartz (Sarah) and Greg Schwartz (Jaime); seven great-grandchildren: Miriam Novicki (Blake), Aaron Mann, Olivia Mann, Clara Mann, Elena Goropoulos, Maya Goropoulos and Parker Schwartz.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings: Edward Rawn, Olive Rawn, Florence Rawn, Dorothy Rawn, Abraham Rawn and George Rawn.
Esther will be laid next to her husband privately in Little Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery (Franconia Township), Telford, on Thursday morning, April 11. A memorial service at Penn Valley Church will be held on Saturday, June 1 at 11 AM, visitation with the family will follow the service in the adjoining Family Life Center. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be in Esther's name to: Grace Christian School, 320 N. Third St., Telford, PA 18969.
