After a long and beautiful life, Ellwood Nice, age 96, of Telford, passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2026. He was the beloved husband of his predeceased wife Regina (Kurian) Nice, with whom he shared over 60 years of marriage.
Born November 1, 1929, in Willow Grove, PA, he was a son of the late Ervin and Emma (Rempfer) Nice.
Ellwood graduated from Upper Moreland High School, where he played baseball, basketball, and football. After graduation, he operated rides at Willow Grove Park, worked in machine shops, and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After the war, he worked as a welder at PECO for many years until retirement.
Ellwood enjoyed a variety of hobbies, such as woodworking, painting, gardening, and collecting items like coins and stamps. He played fast and slow-pitch softball for years and bowled regularly. He cherished time with his family, often seen tossing a ball, enjoying his daughters' events, working on puzzles, or unwinding beside his swimming pool.
Ellwood leaves behind his daughters, Jeanne Marie Kelly (with her husband John) and Sharon Palmer (with her husband Matthew), his son Gary Nice, along with five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Before his death, he was preceded in passing by his wife, Regina Nice; his infant son, Ellwood Nice; and his siblings, Anna, Mary, and Ervin.
Ellwood's graveside service and burial will take place at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 10, 2026, at Whitemarsh Memorial Park, located at 1169 Limekiln Pike, Ambler, PA 19002.
