Elizabeth K. (Alderfer) Nyce, 91, of Harleysville, PA, passed away early Friday morning, November 8, 2024, at home. She lived on the family's twenty-acre farm on Groff Mill Road known as "Schöne Acker" (Nyce Acres), since 1967. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob Arlen Ruth Nyce, on October 24, 2023. They had been married for 71 years at the time of his passing.
Born December 24, 1932, in Sellersville, PA, she was one of five daughters born to the late Lewis and Erma (Keller) Alderfer. She was a graduate of Souderton High School and later attended secretarial school.
Liz was a long-time member of Zion Mennonite Church where she sang in the choir and assisted with Sunday school. She volunteered for many local organizations throughout the years including The Community At Rockhill and Grand View Hospital where she helped in the snack shop for over 30 years. Her hobbies included skiing and camping, and she was always happiest when spending time with her family.
Surviving is a daughter, Christine Eschbach and her husband, Norman, of Harleysville, PA; three sons, Jay Nyce and his wife, Tina, of Chelan, WA, Jeffrey Nyce and his wife, Karen, of Schwenksville, PA, and James Nyce and his wife, Suki, of Park City, UT; grandchildren, Jonathan Nyce and his wife Saralyn, Julie Lamb and her husband Josiah, Kelsey Nyce, Courtney Feigl and her husband Brady, Jennifer Nyce, and Jagger Nyce; and great grandchildren, Lachlan and Holland Lamb, and Bryson Nyce. She is also survived by two sisters, Marilyn Ritter of Harleysville, PA, and Lorraine Shoemaker and her husband, Richard, of Upper Salford, PA; brother-in-law John Young of Souderton, PA; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Geraldine Keller and her husband, LaVerne, and Kathleen Young.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her memorial service at 11 AM on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at Zion Mennonite Church, 149 East Cherry Lane, Souderton, PA, where family will receive friends from 10-10:45 AM. An open house will be held on the farm on Tuesday from 3-5:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to Camp Men-o-lan at www.menolan.org.
