Elizabeth "Liz" Clemens Hagey, 94, of Souderton, passed from this life on Saturday, December 3, 2022 while in residence at the Souderton Mennonite Homes.
Born on October 1, 1928, in Franconia Twp., she was a daughter of the late Jonas G. and Katie C. Hagey.
Liz was an active member of Franconia Mennonite Church serving as a 5th Grade Sunday School teacher, church treasurer, chair of decorating committee and as an alto in the choir. She was also a long-time member of Souderton-Telford Business & Professional Women, chair of the local United Way Campaign and a founding board member at Bridge of Hope BuxMont.
She was a graduate of Souderton High School as well as The Stonier Graduate School of Banking of American Bankers Association at Rutgers University. Her entire 50 year working career (from 1946 to 1996) was spent with Univest – an accomplishment not many can claim. She was a pioneer and mentor of many women in the workforce at the same time being dedicated to relating and helping raise her many nieces and nephews, especially those she lived alongside. Life for Liz was filled with much love being given and received.
In addition to her deep commitment to her extended family, Liz's two life passions were traveling and painting. She explored the world with friends and family and was inspired to learn how others lived and share what she had seen with visitors. She took oil painting lessons along with two of her sisters from local artist Myrtle Waldspurger. Her paintings graced the rooms wherever she lived along with being on display at a local restaurant, bid upon at church auctions and proudly pointed out in the homes of many family members.
Surviving are her nieces and nephews: Sandra Erb, Donna Moyer, Carol Frederick, William Ruth, Pamela Yothers, Steve Hagey, Jane Clough, Karen Moyer, Diane Good, Richard Clemmer, Wendy Alderfer, Lisa Hunsberger, Bradley Gotwals and Joan Yoder.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Jean C. Miller, Jonas C. Hagey, Eva C. Clemmer and Alice C. Gotwals; stepsisters, Beatrice F. Ruth and Velma Derstine; along with nephew, Terry Miller and niece, Linda Moyer.
Visitation with the family will be held from 10-11:30 AM on Monday, December 26, at Franconia Mennonite Church, 613 Harleysville Pike, Telford, PA 18969. Burial will be private.
