Obituary

Eileen T. Maslanka, born in New York, NY in 1932, passed away peacefully. Eileen lived a remarkable life filled with adventure, dedicating 30 years to the U.S. Department of State in the Office of Foreign Affairs. Her career took her around the globe, allowing her to live in various foreign countries. There, she served as Secretary to the Ambassador, expertly managing government affairs and coordinating engagements for visiting dignitaries, all while embracing the rich cultures of the places she called home

Eileen's gift for language allowed her to immerse herself in diverse cultures, and she shared her journeys with a captivating storytelling style that made her friends and family feel as if they were right there with her—on safari, skiing the Alps, or savoring leisurely days in Paris. Her joyful, boisterous laughter lit up every room, and her themed parties became legendary, reflecting her vivacious spirit and creativity, delighting all who were fortunate enough to attend.

In her later years, Eileen continued her travels, embarking on her last solo trip to Europe in her mid-eighties. Eileen pursued happiness wholeheartedly, finding joy in crafts, great books, and cherished moments with family and friends. Eileen never turned down an opportunity for a little retail therapy or a delightful dinner accompanied by a nice cocktail, always embracing life's simple pleasures with enthusiasm.

After retiring in Bradenton, Florida, Eileen moved to Hilton Head, SC, and finally settled in the Philadelphia area in 2019 to be closer to her family.

Eileen is preceded in death by her parents, William and Mary (Zimanski) Maslanka, her brothers William Jr. and John, and her sister Barbara Forde. She is survived by many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
