Eileen Gahman Derstine, age 82, of Dublin, went peacefully to meet her Lord and Savior, Thursday, October 26, 2023, at Doylestown Hospital. She was the wife of the late Henry G. Derstine, for 57 years. He died in 2017.
Eileen was born December 16, 1940, in Philadelphia, PA, the eldest daughter of the late S. Elmer and Elizabeth (Detweiler) Gahman. She graduated from Christopher Dock Mennonite High School, Lansdale, PA
In her early years, Eileen worked for the former Fishers Furniture in Souderton. She became a full-time mother who also babysat neighborhood children, and sold homemade crafts and merchandise from her home.
Family life was important to her, and she enjoyed when everyone was together. She enjoyed canning and preserving food for the family, baking cookies and making special decorated birthday cakes for her children, in their early years. She planned an annual camping trip for the family and enjoyed traveling and volunteering with her husband in their retirement years. She was a member of Ridgeline Community Church (formerly Rockhill Mennonite Church) where she enjoyed being involved with the Boys and Girls Clubs, Summer Bible School and Sewing Circle.
Eileen is survived by six children: Dennis Derstine and wife Rachel, Dublin, Donna Cassel and husband Paul, Perkasie, Sandra Clemens and husband Brian, Harleysville, Kevin Derstine and wife Karen, Souderton, Daryl Derstine, Dublin, Janelle Kulp and husband Jay, Bedminster, 21 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, one sister: Kathleen Groff and husband Larry, Harleysville and one brother Dale Gahman and wife Linda, Telford.
Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral service Friday, November 3, at Ridgeline Community Church, 3100 Meetinghouse Road, Telford. Visitation from 12:00-2:00PM, Followed by the funeral service at 2:00PM. Interment follows in the church cemetery. A livestream of the service can be viewed by clicking HERE .
