Obituary

Edward Lewis Rodrigo, 60, of Harleysville, PA entered into rest on Saturday, February 15, 2025.

Ed was born in Allentown, PA to Lewis Edward Rodrigo and the late Carol Mae Hausman.

He graduated from Souderton Area High School, class of 1982, and earned a BFA from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania in 1987, focusing on Communication Design with a minor in music. Shortly thereafter, he moved to Arlington VA and began work as a graphic designer for the Washington Dossier, the society magazine for the nation's capital. In 1991, he moved back to PA working on design and documentation for Air Products. In 1998 he embarked on a career that utilized his design and documentation skills in the emerging IT field with Systems Solutions, Inc. In 2002, his began a career in technical writing and eventually held a variety of positions, such as document specialist, project manager, senior validation specialist, senior technical writer, and senior technical editor, for major pharmaceutical companies including Wyeth, Pfizer, and Merck.

Ed was a gregarious guy who channeled his inner child and enjoyed life. He had several groups of friends that he kept in touch with through the years, including friends from high school, the Perki Turkeys, and others. He enjoyed outdoor activities in general, hiking, skateboarding, snowboarding, and skiing in particular. He was a volunteer with the National Ski Patrol from 2008-2015, patrolling at Bear Creek Mountain Resort. He was always open to trying new things and going new places with a preference for odd or quirky places that were off the beaten path. All his life, he enjoyed music and cultivated an eclectic taste in music. He attended a wide variety of concerts throughout the years, but most especially The Grateful Dead. He was a regular volunteer at the Philadelphia Folk Festival. He enjoyed reading all sorts of things and had a curiosity about and solid knowledge base on a wide range of subjects. He loved animals both wild and tame, and loved feeding them and visiting with them, always carrying treats and toys especially for dogs, but also for cats, horses, donkeys, chickens, etc. He volunteered to walk dogs at Doggie Style in Philadelphia. He also carried toys with him to entertain friends' children. He enjoyed taking trips to visit with friends and family over the years, and he was always fun on vacation with his sister's family. He was the one who kept in touch with family members and planned outings and activities to keep everyone in touch, from concerts to car shows to train exhibits.

Ed is survived by his father, Lewis Rodrigo, his sister, Robin Binnie (Robert), his aunt Patricia Butler (Dean), his uncle Richard Rodrigo (Deborah); his aunt Diane Peters, his nieces Gillian Binnie and Caillie Binnie, and his cousins Mandy Peters, Stephen Peters, Adam Butler, Brian Butler, Ben Rodrigo and Rae Rodrigo.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his beloved son, Peder.
