Obituary

Edward E. Hodgson, Jr., formerly of Sellersville, PA, left this life on May 19th, 2025. Ed was the son of the late Edward E. Hodgson Sr. and Dorothy Little Hodgson. He is survived by his wife, JoAnne Sotak Hodgson, daughter, Amanda Hodgson Cielenski, (Earl Cody Cielenski), son, Edward E. Hodgson III, grandchildren, Cecilia Rose, Penelope Grace, Amelia Reagen, and Charlotte Annamarie Cielenski. Sisters Pamela Hodgson Wilkins, (George Wilkins), Patricia Hodgson Miller, brother, Richard Hodgson and brother-in-law Samuel Grillo, Sr. He was preceded in death by his sister Mary Alice Hodgson Grillo. He enjoyed his time with his many nieces and nephews.

Ed was a realtor/broker for more than 30 years in the Montgomery, Bucks, Lehigh and Philadelphia areas. He started his career in Quakertown with John Monhan Real Estate and then moved to Lansdale, where he became a broker very early in his career. He transitioned into Re/Max where he was an agent in Worcester and finished his career in Lansdale. Ed served hundreds of friends who became clients and clients who became friends. His love of his career showed in his success and many awards including being recognized in the Re/Max Hall of Fame. He retired from real estate in his early 50's when he became afflicted with Dementia/Alzheimer's.

Ed had quite a few hobbies and interests. He was a gym enthusiast and loved working out. He enjoyed lifting weights for decades and competed in weightlifting competitions for years. He loved meeting people and having parties to celebrate with his many friends and family. Ed loved classic cars, especially Corvettes. His prized possession was his 1962 Corvette, which he purchased when he was 19 years old. His son will carry his memory forward with every mile driven in the beloved Corvette he treasured for over 50 years—a lasting symbol of his passion and spirit.

Community service was important to Ed. He was proud to serve his community and was deeply involved in multiple community service organizations and projects. He served as President of the Lansdale Junior Chamber of Commerce, Regional Director and Vice President of the Pennsylvania Jaycees, and a member of the JCI Senate. He also served in the Souderton Soap Box Association, where he was a sponsor and helped his son compete as a racer. He also served as President of the Souderton Soap Box Association for several years. Through those activities he made many friends and built many lasting relationships. He would encourage his friends to volunteer somehow or some way to help make the community better and stronger.

Services will be held at the Williams- Bergey-Koffel Funeral Home, Rt. 113, Telford, PA 18969, on Saturday, May 31st from 10:00 am to 10:45. Services will begin at 11:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to the Dementia/Alzheimer's Association.
