Obituary

Dorothy M. Hight-Filippini, age 84, of Sellersville (formerly Philadelphia), passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2024. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert V. Hight and the late Geno L. Filippini.

Born May 5, 1939, in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late James Dewar and Dorothy Mae (Humphreys) Ewing.

Dottie was born and raised in the Olney section of Philadelphia. She grew up in a home filled with music, singing and playing with her family. She met her husband Bob after borrowing a sled from him. They got married May 16th, 1959, and after a fun filled period of being an aunt and uncle to her brother's children, they had their 3 kids: Eric, Paige, and Christian.

Dottie moved to the Parkwood section of Philadelphia, where she settled down and enjoyed time being a mother. After watching her mom run a hair salon, she used to cut the hair of all the neighborhood families in Parkwood. She enjoyed helping with Sunday school at her local church on the weekends and being a part of her neighborhood and community.

Dottie returned to work as a Beauty Consultant for Estée Lauder. She loved helping women feel and look beautiful. During this time, she also discovered the joy of being a grandmother. After retiring, she met her second husband Geno, marrying in 1996. Geno and Dottie would travel and enjoy time in Florida as snowbirds. Dottie also enjoyed becoming the Executive Director (as well as the red-head bus driver) of Camp Mom-mom spending quality time with her 3 grandchildren (where she couldn't resist breaking the rules). She loved taking care of her pets and feeding the wild animals outside her window.

Dottie was known by many to be an amateur comedian, developing different "Mom-mom-isms" to tell friends and family. She would frequently save all her jokes until she had an "audience". She loved her sweet treats, mainly chocolate, cherry baked goods, and a cold Sprite. Lover of true crime and funny movies.

Not only did she cherish her children, but she also cherished her grandchildren even more. Regardless of who you were or where you were from, she always offered care, and gentile love. She lived up to wanting to be remembered as a kind and loving person, mother, and grandmother.

Dorothy is survived by her children Paige Thomas and Christian Hight; grandchildren Evan and Emily Thomas and Timothy Hight; sister-in-law Dorothy Humphreys.

In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by her son Eric James Hight; brothers Donald Humphreys and Dr. James D. Ewing and stepmother Ruth Ewing.

A funeral service for Dorothy will take place at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 11, 2024, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 19 South 5th Street, Perkasie, PA 18944, where the family will greet guests from 10:00 – 10:45 AM. Interment will take place at Whitemarsh Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Dorothy's name may be made to either Trinity Lutheran Church at the address above or to an animal rescue of donor's choice.
