Dorcas Rolón, 93, a resident of Coatesville, PA, passed away early Wednesday morning, November 13, 2024. She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Rolón, in October of 2018. They were married for 57 years at the time of his passing and were former residents of Puerto Rico, Belgium, Goshen, IN, Ephrata, PA, and Hatfield, PA.

Born June 6, 1931, in Morgantown, PA, she was a daughter of the late David and Emma (Stoltzfus) Yoder. She earned her nursing certificate from The Coatesville Hospital School of Nursing, and her bachelor's degree from Eastern Mennonite College. Before retiring, she was employed as a registered nurse at Hospital Menonita in Aibonito, Puerto Rico, and Ephrata Community Hospital.

Dorcas went to Puerto Rico as a voluntary service nurse, and served as a missionary in Brussels, Belgium. Throughout the years, she was involved in the churches she attended, most recently as an active member of Blooming Glen Mennonite Church. She served the church through sewing circles, Sunday school teaching, and at the Mennonite Central Committee Material Resource Center. Her hobbies included baking, gardening, sewing, putting puzzles together, coloring and reading. She was happiest when spending time with her family.

Surviving are four children, Juanita Emma Santiago and her husband, Noel, of Coatesville, PA,  Nancy Rolón Wingfield, of Coatesville, PA, Pedro Samuel Rolón and his wife, Annie, of Huntersville, NC, and Rosalie Rolón-Dow and her husband, Leonard, of Philadelphia, PA.  She is also survived by eleven grandchildren, Adriel Santiago and his wife Evie, Adriana Santiago, Talia Santiago and her husband Noah, and Miguel Santiago; Roberto Wingfield and his wife Emily; Melissa, David and Daniel Rolón; and Carmela, Marcela and Lorenzo Dow. She is also survived by a sister, Julia Yoder of New Holland, PA.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by four siblings, Ruth Stauffer, Phoebe Bell, Sarah Scott, and Mark Yoder.

Funeral services will be private at Blooming Glen Mennonite Church. Burial will follow in the adjoining church cemetery.
