Dolores M. Mills, 79, of Harleysville, formerly of Philadelphia, passed peacefully on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at home, surrounded by her family. She was the dedicated wife of the late Harry T. Mills.
Born in Philadelphia, she was the youngest daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Callahan.
She was a graduate of West Catholic High School, class of 1961. Dolores was a proud employee of Penn Medicine where she worked in inpatient admissions for over 30 years.
Dolores was a devote and generous Irish Catholic woman. She donated to various Catholic organizations monthly, especially ones that focused on helping children. Her favorite routine was to make coffee and sit quietly saying her various prayers every morning. Her prayer book was always with her and Dolores had a specific Saint she prayed to for all her loved ones and those who were sick. Her favorite Saint was Saint Theresa of the Little Flower.
She loved nothing more than spending time with her family. If she could help it, she never missed a dance recital, a sports game, a choir recital, a graduation, and anything that had to do with her six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She loved telling stories about her Callahan family and all of their adventures to make us laugh. It was a rare moment Nan was not speaking about her family both living and past. Her family was her whole life.
Dolores enjoyed going out to eat, hitting the casino, traveling to the beach, reading her favorite authors, and playing games on the tablet. Her favorite place was the ocean and her dream house would have been on the coast of Bar Harbor MA. She loved history, cooking shows, and watching movies.
She is survived by her daughter, Deborah (Mills) Kelly of Philadelphia, PA; son, Michael Mills and his wife, Diane, of Harleysville, PA; grandson, Thomas Mills and his wife, Anna, of Boise, ID; granddaughter, Erin Kelly and her husband, Alessandro, of Collegeville, PA; grandson, Eric Myers of Philadelphia, PA; grandson, Brendan Mills of Harleysville, PA; granddaughter, Ava Mills of Harleysville, PA; grandson, Liam Mills Harleysville, PA; great grandsons, Wyatt and Luke Mills of Boise, ID; and great granddaughter, Eleanora DeBernardo of Collegeville PA.
