Obituary

Dennis M. Flanagan, 72, of Somers Point, NJ, passed away on Saturday, February 5, 2022.  He was the husband of the late Marianne Flanagan.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Robert and Marie Flanagan.  Dennis received his bachelor's degree from Villanova University, class of 1971 and received his master's degree in 1974 and his Doctorate in 1984 from Temple University.

Dennis worked from 1971-1979 as a special education teacher for the Philadelphia School District and school psychologist from 1980-1988.  He was Director of Pupil Services for Methacton School District from 1988-2004 and was a Professor of Psychology for Kaplan University, Purdue University Global and Stockton University from 2005-2021.

Dennis was an avid reader and enjoyed crafting stained glass.   He volunteered for special needs organizations and animal rescues.  He was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his daughter, Annemarie Alberts and her husband, Mark, of Harleysville; son, Robert Flanagan of Hatfield; and his sister, Mary Laskowski of East Norriton.  Dennis will be missed by many other family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, February 12, at the Williams-Bergey-Koffel Funeral Home, Inc., 667 Harleysville Pike, Telford 18969, where the family will receive friends from 9-10. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, February 19, at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 606 Shore Rd., Somers Point, NJ, 08244. The family will receive friends from 10:30-11 at the church and a luncheon will follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations are made to an animal rescue of your choice or to a local food bank. Canned goods and/or pet supplies will be collected at the memorial service on Saturday, February 12.

During his illness Dennis received many blood transfusions and the family requests that if you are able to please donate blood in his memory.
