Obituary

Daniel Bruce Leach, 71, of Hatfield, PA, passed away on Tuesday, August 18, 2026. He was the husband of the late Janet Peterman Leach, who passed away in 2025.

Born January 11, 1955, in Lansdale, PA, he was the son of the late Robert Woodward Leach Jr. and Margaret Elizabeth (Nellett) Leach. He was a 1973 graduate of North Penn High School where he was a strong competitor in both Wrestling and Cross Country. He went on to earn his bachelor's degree in biology from East Stroudsburg University in 1977.

Adventurous by nature, Dan backpacked in Australia with a college buddy. Before settling down in the Lansdale area he and Janet spent many seasons in Alta, Utah working at ski resorts where he became an accomplished downhill telemark skier.

Dan spent his working life as a carpenter and home improvement contractor. He was noted for craftsmanship and the high quality of his work with many repeat customers.

He faced many of life’s challenges with a smile and positive outlook. He deeply cared for others and he and Janet were frequent visitors of those in need of comfort. He readily made new friends and maintained many lasting friendships going back to his early schooldays.

As a talented photographer Dan captured impressive images of flowers, birds, butterflies, scenery and architecture that appeared in many calendars.

Dan was also an enthusiastic golfer and played multiple times a week with several groups of friends.

An avid and accomplished dahlia grower, Dan was an active member of the Greater Philadelphia Dahlia Society. His prize-winning blooms earned him a place on the Court of Honor at the National Capital Dahlia Show, the Gettysburg show, and the Greater Philadelphia Dahlia Society's own show, as well as recognition at American Dahlia Society National shows.

He is survived by his siblings, Barbara Brasch (Jim) of Harleysville; Robert Leach (Virginia) of Green Lane; and Diane Morton (Jim) of Cape May, NJ; along with sisters-in-law Cindy Miller (Dana) of Sellersville and Sue Deardorff (Curt) of North Wales and many loving nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2026, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at Williams-Bergey-Koffel Funeral Home, 667 Harleysville Pike, Telford, PA 18969, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM.
