Obituary

Craig Alan Gorton, 67, of Perkasie, PA died on February 21, 2022. He passed peacefully with his beloved wife, Jeannie, by his side.

Born December 5, 1954, in Boston, MA, Craig was the son of the late William T. Gorton Jr. and Sally Bea (Greenfield) Gorton. In 1961, the family moved to Dallas, PA where Craig spent the next 12 years creating the foundation that would define his life. Craig was a natural leader, even at 10 years old, he was already sticking up for the little guy, and if anybody picked on any of his brothers, you would have to answer to Craig. In high school he picked up the nickname Gorto, which would follow him throughout his life.

Craig graduated from Wilkes College with a BA in Business. He went on to become a top sales rep for major hardware/door and other companies, which led to him creating his business, Sierra Sales in 1993, as an independent sales representative for Yale Security Group. In 2005, Sierra Sales transitioned into the field of design and sales of industrial storage tanks, shipping both nationally and internationally. Craig always spoke of his customers and contacts in the professional world as if they were family. He had a way of making business more personal, and his clients always felt they were important and not just a sale.

Everything Craig did, he did with passion. While at Wilkes he started playing guitar and writing music. His passion for the guitar and music would become one of the most important and fulfilling facets of his life, playing in jam bands wherever he lived for the next 40 years. His collection of classic and custom guitars was his pride and joy, and he shared them with anybody who wanted to make music. Among Craig's other passions were his beautiful, raised gardens of day lilies which was the perfect background as he and Jeannie exchanged their wedding vows. Cooking was an art for Craig, his creations were as beautiful as they were delicious!

Craig and Jeannie met in 2005 and soon after their hearts were together as one woven with the threads of love.

In addition to his wife, Jeannie (Golden) Gorton, he is survived by two step-daughters, Jennifer Dinon (Christopher), Nora Fenerty (Stephen Gibbons); five brothers, William T Gorton III (Robin), Keith Gorton (Mary Beth), Lance Gorton (Cindi), Ben Gorton (Claire), Bill Gregoricus (Karen); a special cousin Laurel Gorton, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his stepfather, Al Bullard.

A celebration of life will take place at 11am on Saturday May 7, 2022 at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 2871 Barndt Rd, Harleysville, PA 19438. Family will receive friends from 10am to 10:45.
