Cleta F. (Gilbert) Landis passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 16, 2022 at the Community at Rockhill in Sellersville, PA at the age of 88.
Born in Green Lane, PA, she was the youngest of 12 children to the late A. Howard and Catherine "Katie" (Zepp) Gilbert. She was a graduate of East Greenville High School.
She married Stanton Landis in 1957 at Friedens UCC. This year they celebrated 65 years together. They raised 3 children, Scott, Karen, and Sharon in their Harleysville, PA home. She spent the majority of her time with her young family as a homemaker. Once her children were older, she worked at Lower Salford Elementary and Indian Valley Middle Schools. Cleta went on to work at Hennings Market Deli for several years until she retired to dedicate her time to her children and grandchildren. She was an active member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sumneytown, PA.
Cleta enjoyed gardening, bird watching in her backyard, playing cards, baking, and spending time with her growing family. She and Stan cherished many winters at their home in Sarasota, FL, sitting on the beautiful beach and watching the sunsets. In her free time, she could be found scouting yard sales, traveling the country, taking long drives to Lancaster County, riding on the back of Stan's motorcycle, or out to eat with friends.
Cleta is survived by her husband, Stanton Landis; children: Scott and Lisa Landis of Sellersville, Sharon Kucharski of Bechtelsville, and Karen Detwiler of Red Hill; grandchildren: Tiffany Reber (Andrew), Allison Koffel (John), Jay Kucharski (Mary), Alex Detwiler (Deanna), Kristin Schuster (Carl), David Kucharski, Eric Landis (Amanda), and Leanne Kucharski, and seven great grandchildren with two more expected this Fall. She is also survived by one brother, P. Lamar Gilbert.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by baby boy Landis, her two sisters: Jeanetta and Marie, and eight brothers: Earl, Howard, Lester, Lawrence, Robert, Willard, Harold, and John.
Funeral arrangements are being made by Williams-Bergey-Koffel of Franconia, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church (Sumneytown), Harleysville Area Ambulance, or Grandview Hospice. A celebration of life will be held at a future date.
