Charles Richard Robinson, III, 89, passed away Tuesday morning at Abington Jefferson - Lansdale Hospital. He was predeceased in death by his beloved wife, Jean Grace (Pierson) Robinson, in 1994. Born in Chestnut Hill, he was the son of the late Charles and Margaret (Dunlap) Robinson.
He was a 1951 graduate of Ambler High School where he played football and lettered in track. He attended Penn State University for Engineering.
When he graduated high school, Charles was employed by SPS Technologies in Jenkintown as a hexamatic nut machine operator. Over his 50 years at SPS, he worked as a scheduler and small lots engineer, group leader, and production supervisor and engineer. He retired in 2000 and remained as a consultant until 2008.
Charles served in the Army from 1951-1953. He served six months as a medic attached to the Engineering Division at Fort Bragg. He was with the 46th Transportation Company (Medium Truck) as a wrecking crew supervisor and driver during the Korean War.
He was a very humble, hard working and loving family man who will truly be missed. He had a great love for his family, the great outdoors, going for walks on the beach, boating, fishing, gardening, tinkering, car races, football, reading and most recently origami.
He is survived by two daughters, Patti-Jean Hallman and her husband, Gary, and Peggi-Jane Deininger and her husband, Robert. He is also survived by his granddaughter, Jean Deininger. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Margaret Jane Turn and Carol Anne Kinney.
The family will receive friends from 10 - 10:45 am with a public Memorial Service at 11:00 am on Friday, March 17 at Williams-Bergey-Koffel Funeral Home, 667 Harleysville Pike, Telford, PA. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery, Ambler. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association.
