Carolyn Ann Brunner, born October 30, 1944, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 6, 2026, surrounded by her devoted husband, Donald Brunner, and their children. Carolyn and Don would have celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary this November.
Carolyn had been a beloved resident of Dock Terrace in Lansdale since 2020, where she was known and cherished by her caregivers for her delightful smile.
Carolyn was the daughter of the late Wilmer Y. and Kathryn K. Benner. After graduating from Souderton High School, Class of 1962, Carolyn worked at the Gauge in Sellersville. During Don's 1-W service, she worked in Medical Records at General Rose Memorial Hospital in Denver, Colorado. Upon returning to Pennsylvania, she was employed as a bookkeeper at Landis' Supermarket while raising their three children. Later, she lovingly provided childcare for her grandchildren.
She enjoyed many hobbies, including knitting, gardening, canning and preserving, and a variety of artistic pursuits. Carolyn was a talented writer who authored cookbooks; her most treasured project was the Derstine Family Cookbook, which included the history and descendants of Michael Derstine. She also loved traveling and especially enjoyed cruises with Don and their family.
Carolyn had a special gift for hospitality and loved hosting gatherings, often preparing meals for groups as large as 30 in her home. Her compassionate spirit and organizational skills were essential in her leadership of the Hospitality Network at Rockhill Mennonite Church, where she helped serve unhoused families in need for many years.
In addition to her devoted husband, Don, she is survived by her three children: Andrew Brunner and his wife Pam of Souderton; Travis Brunner and his wife Heather of Telford; and Julie Brunner Derksen and her partner Jed Dickinson of White River Junction, Vermont; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three brothers, Dale Benner and his wife Peg, David Benner, and Jim Benner and his wife Nancy; and one sister, Kathy Doak and her husband Sam.
She was preceded in death by a sister-in-law Nancy Benner (wife of David).
Family and friends are invited to attend her Celebration of Life on Saturday, March 7, at 3:00 PM at Penn Valley Church, 320 N. 3rd Street, Telford, PA.
Memorial contributions may be made to Living Branches Benevolent Fund, 275 Dock Drive, Lansdale, PA 19446.
