Brian John Duckworth, 74, of Catawissa, PA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 1, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Brenda Joyce (Bennington) Duckworth, with whom he shared over 54 years of marriage.
Born March 27, 1952, in Philadelphia, PA, he was a son of the late Elwood Smith and Myrtle (Hallman) Duckworth. The family moved to Hatfield, PA in 1954.
One of Brian’s favorite things to do was to spend time with his children and grandchildren outdoors. He taught them how to ride four-wheelers and catch fish, frogs and salamanders. Through his actions, he passed down his love for animals, the mountains, and everything that went with it. He also deeply valued the time he spent with his brothers and cousins, sharing laughs and reminiscing,
Once “retired” he moved to his home in the mountains. He was happiest when he was feeding his forest animals, cutting the grass, blowing leaves, and working on the roads with the Over The Hill Gang. In the summer you could also catch him driving a dump truck for Jim Kenney. When he wasn’t outside, you could find him in his chair watching westerns and enjoying a good meal.
Off the mountain, he enjoyed spending time in Ocean City. He could sit on the beach for hours; body surf the waves and spend entire afternoons picking steamed crabs with family and friends. He loved riding his Harley Davidson at Bike Week and going to car shows. Brian loved going to Numidia Dragway and watching his buddies race their cars.
In addition to his wife, Brenda, Brian is survived by his children Brian John Duckworth, Jr. and his wife Nicole of Franconia, Brandilyn Joyce Begin and her husband James of Quakertown, Bethany Janet Duckworth of North Wales; grandchildren Ava, Vanessa, Brandon, Caleb and Emily, Noah, Magnolia, Mackenzie and Riley; brothers Elwood Duckworth and his wife Janet, Wayne Duckworth and his wife Susan, Mark Duckworth and his wife Kerry. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
A memorial service for Brian will be held at 11:30 AM on Friday, November 13, 2026, at the Williams-Bergey-Koffel Funeral Home Inc., 667 Harleysville Pike, Telford, where the family will greet guests from 10:00 – 11:15 AM. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Brian’s name may be made to Catawissa Christian Church Benevolent Fund, 319 Main Street, Catawissa, PA 17820.
