Obituary

Arthur Russell York, age 92, of Souderton, passed away on Monday, May 27, 2024. He was the beloved husband of Gladys (Ziegler) York, with whom he shared 15 days shy of 70 years of marriage.

Born October 17, 1931, in E. Pikeland Twp., he was a son of the late Glenn Arnold and Edith (Miller) York.

Art's life vocations were a machine operator at the milk company of Martin Century Farms, the Agricultural Manager for JW Rex farm, mason for Earl Nice, and the custodian for Grace Bible Church.

Art was an active member of Grace Bible Church in Souderton since 1953. During that time, he was the Head Usher for many years, served as a Deacon frequently, was a Boys Brigade leader, and was a devoted volunteer for many church activities and ministries. He shared the Gospel on 29 short term mission trips to many countries and volunteered for packing projects at UNTO in Mt. Joy, PA.  Art also enjoyed gardening, lawn care, sports, and made sure he stayed active with his Planet Fitness membership. He loved spending time with his family and friends and will be missed.

In addition to his wife Gladys, he is survived by his children Sherry Creasman and her husband Dwight of Olive Branch, MS, and Ken York of Souderton, PA; a grandson Greg York of Harleysville, PA; brothers Paul York and his wife Jean of Mt. Horeb, WI, Bill York and his wife Betty Jane of Fountainville, PA and Ron York of Warminster, PA.

A memorial service for Art will take place at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at Grace Bible Church, 423 N. Main Street, Souderton, PA 18964, where the family will greet guests from 9:00 – 10:45 AM. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Art's name may be made to Grace Bible Church at the address above or to UNTO, 1506 Quarry Road, Mt. Joy, PA  17552.
