Anne L. Kassem, age 85, of Sellersville, passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2024.
Born June 25, 1938, in Nashville, Michigan, she was a daughter of the late Robert Colby and Dorothy Irene (Saier) Shaft.
Anne was fiercely independent with a soft spot for the underdog. Her early career as a travel agent brought her to many countries, sparking her interest in exotic cultures, history and experiences. She translated this interest to a Bachelor of Art in Geography from Michigan State University. Her organizational skills built her later career as an office manager bringing her to many parts of the USA including Florida, Arkansas, and South Carolina. She retired to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina where she loved the ocean, the beach, and the waterways around her house. Her great love of the outdoors meant she was always driving somewhere in her camper van with her dogs, Rusty, Zoe and Mitzi, visiting friends and relatives from Michigan to Florida. Along with traveling she had an avid interest in family genealogy, bird watching, gardening and computers.
Anne is survived by her son Kenneth Kassem and his wife Fareea Ma, currently living in Fiji; sister Theresa Wampler of Harleysville; nieces and nephew Susan Wampler and her husband Rory Osler of Telford, Stanley Wampler and his wife Marisol of Schwenksville, Pamela Bedell and her husband Kevin of Harleysville; grand-niece Abigail Keiper and her husband Peter Lübcke; grand-nephews Benjamin Keiper, Colin Keiper, Samuel Bedell and his wife Chris Franzel, Daniel Bedell and his wife Noelle; great grand-nephew Fredrik Lübcke. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son Robert C. Grayson and brother-in-law Eugene Wampler.
