Anita Sykes, age 94, of Harleysville, passed away on Saturday August 2, 2025. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Sykes with whom she shared over 70 years of marriage.
Born July 20, 1931, in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late Stanley and Alma (Kincler) Rose.
Anita, a devoted homemaker, shared her warmth and care with all who knew her. After lovingly raising her children, she reentered the workforce with the Colonial School District, serving in the cafeteria; later in life, Anita joined the team at Jeanette's Hallmark in Harleysville.
A longtime member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Conshohocken, Anita found joy in preparing chocolate Easter eggs each spring—an act of tradition and community. Her faith and generosity extended into all areas of her life, especially in the time she spent caring for her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Anita loved gardening and took pleasure in taking care of her many plants both indoors and outdoors.
Anita's legacy is one of devotion—to her family and her faith. She will be deeply missed, but forever remembered with love.
She is survived by her children Christine Harubin and her husband Peter of Harleysville, Sandra Fisher and her husband Paul of Harleysville, Kenneth Sykes and his wife Ellen of Collegeville, Michael Sykes and his wife Regina of Montgomeryville, Eric Sykes of Philadelphia; brother Bruce Rose and his wife Iru of North Carolina; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was also survived by numerous nieces and extended family.
A funeral service for Anita will take place at 11:00 AM on Friday August 8, 2025, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 69 West Broad Street, Souderton, where the family will greet guests from 10:00 – 10:45 AM. Interment will take place in George Washington Memorial Park.
