Andrew T. Wakefield, age 66, of Telford, passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2023. He was the beloved husband of Dianne Marie (Carey) Wakefield, with whom he shared over 40 years of marriage.
Born May 5, 1956, in Chester, he was a son of Virginia (Taylor) and the late Ralph Wakefield.
Andy loved the outdoors and began studying forestry at Penn State. In the end he switched to business and over his 40-year career he managed manufacturing ranging from candy to defense electronics.
Soccer was a large part of Andy's family's life. He coached soccer teams for years while his children were young and traveled to see all his children's games as they played through their high school and college years.
Andy was a collector and amassed a large cache of vintage beer trays, ashtrays (even though he didn't smoke) and lawn ornaments. He also collected rocks, large and small, from Pennsylvania to Arizona.
Andy enjoyed travel. His favorite trips were to the Jersey Shore where he built sandcastles with his grandchildren, Key West where he sailed a boat, Wyoming where he rode a horse and Ireland where he drove with his wife from the east to west coast and back sometimes on the wrong side of the road.
Andy loved music and was happiest around a burning fire with his playlist and a cold beer.
Andy was the beloved husband and friend of Dianne for 48 years. He was a good man, loved by family and friends and will be missed greatly.
In addition to his wife Dianne, he is survived by his children, Andrew T. Wakefield Jr. and his wife, Heather, and Alexandra Miller and her husband, Luke; grandchildren, Hadley Noelle and Aiden Thomas Wakefield; and sisters, Martha Gilliland and Susan Olesak.
