Obituary

Alan Wayne Welch, age 67, of Milford Township, Quakertown, PA, died unexpectedly Wednesday evening, Sept. 28, 2022. He was the dedicated and beloved husband of Carla (Fleming) Welch. The couple would have celebrated 41 years of marriage on October 24, 2022.

Born in Elizabeth, NJ, Alan was the son of the late Donald L. and Florajean (Fricke) Welch. His parents relocated to Bloomsburg, PA, where Alan grew up and graduated from Central Columbia High School in Bloomsburg. Alan was a member of Central Columbia's wrestling team. It was there that Alan established lifelong friends and found a true zest for life.

Later, he attended Bloomsburg University and Montgomery County Community College. Successfully owning and operating Carpet Care Services, in Mainland, PA, for 27 years, he established his loyal and respected reputation within the industry.  His commitment to professionalism, exceptional people skills, and attention to detail contributed greatly to his business success.  Alan's earlier career was spent in the furniture industry which included employment at Statewide Furniture, Bloomsburg, Montour Wood Products, Danville, Furniture Unlimited, Quakertown, and Moore's Furniture, Limerick.  Alan's passion was restoring homes and furniture.

Alan was an F & AM in the Valley Masonic Lodge #499, Pittston PA.  He was also a member of the American Legion Post #273 and the Elks Lodge #436, both located in Bloomsburg.  Alan was a skilled chef and "foodie" who took immense pleasure in entertaining and spending time with family and friends. His fun-loving nature and spirited sense of humor was evident in all he did.  Alan's sincere generosity, genuine kindness, and lively personality enriched and positively impacted many people's lives.

In addition to his parents, Alan was preceded in death by his brother Donald L. Welch, Jr., father-in-law Carl Fleming, mother-in-law Dawn Fleming, stepfather-in-law Roy Sanders, and stepmother Sara Jane (Sally) McHenry Welch.

In addition to his wife Carla, Alan is survived by: Brother, Robert Welch and Linda (wife), Lansdale PA, their 3 Welch sons Weston and Samantha (wife), Collin and Terri (wife), both of Philadelphia, Logan and Britney (partner) of Austin TX. Sister, Diana Welch and sons Kyle and Kate (wife) Belkoski, Eric and Diana (wife) Belkoski, all located in North Carolina. Sister-in-law Cindy Welch and her children Amy and Curtis (husband) McNeil and Donald L. Welch III, all of Albany GA.Stepbrothers, Chuck and Charla (wife) McHenry Naples FL, John McHenry TX, David and Wendy (wife) McHenry CO, and Barbara and Rick (husband) Klebon MD. Sister-in-Law Cheri (Fleming) and Richard (husband) Lyons and children Emily and Andy (husband) Bloom, Wesley and Lauren (wife) Lyons.

He was the admired and proud "Uncle Alan" to all of his nieces, grand nieces, nephews, and grand nephews. Alan thrived in their presence and truly had a gift to light up a room.
